20% of the world’s population does not have access to electricity.
At Soitec, we believe that solar energy is the answer. The vast majority of the “electricity-poor” live in sunny areas where solar energy has the capacity to truly make a difference, bringing electricity to those who need it while helping curb climate change. However, the widespread adoption of solar energy requires both technological innovation and a concerted effort to drive local development.
Sunidarity, a Soitec initiative, will help provide energy to electricity-poor areas with the goal of contributing to social and economic development. Through Sunidarity, we will support NGOs and non-profit organizations by giving them the technological innovation they need to get energy to the places they serve.
We will select three projects to receive support through Sunidarity. Each project will be given our innovative Plug&Sun™ system, which uses Concentrator Photovoltaic (CPV) technology—a source of clean, reliable energy—to generate electricity in the places where it is most needed.
